When normality becomes a threat

The trend in the late 20th century was crystal clear: the Rolling Stones were always considered superior to the Beatles, but if you still liked the Beatles, then naturally John Lennon was superior to Paul McCartney. And there is a simple explanation: whoever is considered to have the hardest time adapting to the most normal middle-class views is thought to have special artistic or intellectual qualities.

Axess beklagar

I nr 9 2011 av Axess Magasin och på vår webbsida publicerade vi en artikel med titeln ”Ovärdigt spel för gallerierna” av Joakim Grönesjö. I artikeln skriver Joakim Grönejö om sin uppfattning om varför Moderna museet i Stockholm valde att ställa ut konstverk av Cy Twombly tillsammans med konstverk av Turner och Monet i den nyliga utställningen Turner, Monet, Twombly. Sent måleri som organiserades av Jeremy Lewison.

Det har kommit till vår kännedom att artikeln har tolkats som ärekränkande av Jeremy Lewison. Vi vill betona att såvitt vi känner till hade inte Jeremy Lewison något kommersiellt intresse i något av konstverken i utställningen. Såvitt vi känner till använde han inte heller museet som en plattform för sin ekonomiska verksamhet eller ägnade han sig åt olaglig marknadspåverkan.

Vi anser Jeremy Lewison vara en mycket kompetent, erfaren och kunnig kurator. Vår avsikt har aldrig varit att nedsvärta Jeremy Lewisons rykte. Vi uppriktigt beklagar om artikeln har orsakat Jeremy Lewison något trångmål.
