”The European Commission is always afraid”

Frits Bolkestein was, from 1999-2004, an EU commissioner, and tried in 1998 to keep Italy out of European cooperation. Today, he is a harsh critic of how the EU works. He advocates a new European cooperation between Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Finland, and deplores the political correctness of the EU Commission.
